Promalactis trigonilancis Kim , sp. nov.

Diagnosis

This species is externally similar to Promalactis extumida Wang, Du & Li, 2013 , in the fore wing pattern, but it can be easily differentiated by the triangular valva, the funnel-like saccus, and the aedeagus with largely swelled apex of male genitalia.

Description

Adult ( Figures 2n , 3n ). Head: Frons greyish dark brown. Vertex white tinged with dark brown with dark brown occiput. Antenna with scape white entirely, as long as diameter of eye; flagellum white from base to one-seventh, dark brown and white alternately from one-seventh to apex dorsally. Labial palpus with yellowish brown of second segment and dark brown of third segment, except white at basal and apical parts of latter; third segment as long as second segment. Thorax: Thorax and tegula dark brown. Wingspan 10–11.0 mm. Fore wing ground colour yellowish brown; three bands all white, edged with fuscous scales: subbasal band oblique toward wing base, traversed from costal margin to posterior margin just near wing base; antemedial band oblique toward wing base, relatively broad, slightly arched inner margin from one-quarter of costal margin to one-third of posterior margin; medial band short, oblique toward apex, not reaching to costal patch; costal patch at two-thirds, large, circular; apical patch somewhat triangular; fringes greyish dark brown except brownish yellow near apex. Hind wing ground colour and fringes greyish dark brown.

Male genitalia ( Figure 4k, 4 ka–c). Uncus wide at base, gradually narrowerd toward apex, as long as gnathos. Gnathos tougue-shaped, lateral margin bent inwardly. Valva triangular, setose densely; costal margin gradually convex to apex; saccular margin somewhat concave to apex. Saccus funnel-shaped, longer than uncus. Aedeagus bearing sclerotized area with dense hairs in largely swelled apex. Cornutus absent.

Female genitalia ( Figure 5f, 5 fa). Papilla anales setose. Apophyses posteriores about 1.5 times length of apophyses anteriores. Apophyses anterioires slightly thicker than apophyses posterioires. Lamella postvaginalis largely developed, incised medially with setose. Lamella antevaginalis irregularly margined. Antrum short, as long as papilla anales, straight to ductus bursae. Ductus bursae swelled posteriorly, from one-half to corpus bursae gradually wider. Corpus bursae large ovate, bearing a pair of signa; signa two, circular, consisting by numerous spines.

Distribution

Indonesia (Sumatra: North).

Etymology

The specific name is derived from the Greek trigoni (= triangular), plus the Latin lancis (= plate), referring to triangular valva of the male genitalia.
