Redescription. Adult ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 14 ) with wingspan 12.0¯ 13.5 mm. Head black; occiput blackish brown, with bluish violet metallic luster. Labial palpus with first segment pale yellowish brown; second segment pale yellowish brown basally, darkening to blackish brown distally; third segment purplish black. Antenna purplish black; basal 5/6 of flagellum with pectinate scaling on posterior edge. Patagium deep silvery gray. Thorax blackish brown, tegula dark gray, in some individuals thorax and tegula ferrugineous red. Forewing ferrugineous red, black at base; wide longitudinal black band extending from basal 1/7 to distal 1/10 of dorsum, occupying 2/5 width of wing, with a fine longitudinal ferrugineous red streak in middle of its distal half; cilia dark brown. Hindwing dark brown, basal 2/3 ferrugineous red in some individuals; dorsum with semi-elliptical hyaline space at base; cilia brown. Legs blackish gray, with scattered yellowish white scales. Abdomen black on dorsal surface, third segment laterally and forth segment posteriorly with white scales; ivory on ventral surface.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 15 – 20 ). Uncus broad at base, gradually narrowed to apex, with densely spaced long hairs (detached); apex notched at middle, with two small posterolateral processes pointed at apex. Gnathos absent. Tegumen about twice length of uncus. Valva with basal 3/5 nearly uniform, distal 2/5 gradually narrowed, apex narrowly rounded, covered with dense long hairs in distal 2/3; costa straight; transtilla triangular; sacculus about 3/5 length of valva, broad at base, narrowed distally. Vinculum narrowed posteriorly; saccus triangular, about 1/3 length of uncus. Juxta sub-rounded, straight on posterior margin; anellus lobes elliptical, about same length as juxta, with long hairs. Aedeagus approximately 1.2 times length of valva, basal 2/3 uniformly broad, with a sclerotized plate at base, distal 1/3 narrowed triangularly, pointed apically; cornutus absent.

Biology. The species is an important predator of aphids on bamboo ( Liu 1981).

Distribution. China (Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan); Korea, Japan.

Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished from its congeners by the forewing having a broad longitudinal black band occupying dorsal 2/5. It is closer to A. brevisaccula sp. nov. and A. parignipicta sp. nov. The diagnostic characters to distinguish them are stated under the latter species.
