11. Urostyla grandis grandis Ehrenberg, 1830 View in CoL ( Fig. 11 View Fig )
Material examined. Freshwater with debris collected from Gyeongpocheon River , Unjeong-dong , Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, Korea (37°47 ʹ 20 ʺ N, 128°54 ʹ 34 ʺ E) on January 4, 2018 GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. Body size about 200 × 95 μm after protargol impregnation; body broadly ellipsoidal; flexible; cytoplasm colorless; yellowish cortical granules; numerous ellipsoidal to globular macronuclear nodules; 46- 51 adoral membranelles; bicorona frontal rows; 4-6 left marginal rows; 5 or 6 right marginal rows; 8-13 transverse cirri; 4 dorsal kineties; marginal cirral row originated from intrakinetal cirral anlage.
Distribution. Cosmopolitan.
Remarks. A Korean population of U. grandis was previously described without morphogenesis ( Shin, 1994; Berger, 2006). Recently, Paiva et al. (2016) established a new subspecies U. grandis wiackowskii Paiva et al., 2016 based on the morphogenetic stages of left marginal rows. Therefore, we used morphogenesis to classify the subspecies level of the Korean population. This Korean population of U. grandis grandis has intrakinetal anlagen originated from each left marginal row. In contrast, U. grandis wiakowskii has multiple anlagen originated from innermost left marginal cirral row.
Voucher slides. Two slides of protargol-impregnated specimens were deposited at National Institute of Biological Resources, Korea (NIBRPR0000109470, NIBRPR0000109471).
