24. Zoothamnium plumula Kahl, 1933 View in CoL ( Fig. 24 View Fig )
Material examined. Brackish water (salinity 10‰) collected from Gyeongpocheon River , Unjeong-dong , Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, Korea (37°47 ʹ 20 ʺ N, 128°54 ʹ 34 ʺ E) on July 13, 2017 GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. Colony height about 2100 μm; colony fan-like shape; alternatively branched; contractile stalk; zooid elongated bell-shaped, measuring 55-72 × 25-27 μm in vivo; single-layered peristomial lip width 38-40 μm; horizontal C-shaped macronucleus; one contractile vacuole dorsally located; transverse silverlines about 60 striations between peristomial lip and trochal band, about 25 striations between trochal band and scopula; two epistomial membranes; P1 and P2 consisted 3 kineties; P3 slightly separated inner row and outer two rows.
Distribution. China, Germany, Korea.
Remarks. The Korean population of Z. plumula is slightly different from the Chinese population in the colony shape (fan-like vs. feather-like) ( Song et al., 2002; Ji et al., 2009). The Korean population is possibly a well-developed form because the colony shape is sometimes changeable ( Ji et al., 2015).
Voucher slides. Two slides of protargol-impregnated specimens were deposited at National Institute of Biological Resources, Korea (NIBRPR0000109421, NIBRPR0000109422).
