Type species: Plateros brasiliensis Lucas, 1857 (subsequent designation by Zaragoza 1999) = Dumbrellia Lea, 1909: 99 , syn. nov.

Type species: Calochromus brevicornis Lea, 1898: 561

Remarks. The genus Dumbrellia was described by Lea (1909) for Dumbrellia brevicornis ( Lea, 1898) and D. pilosicornis ( Lea, 1898) . Both of these species were originally described in Calochromus . Later, Lea (1921) added Dumbrellia melancholica Lea. Probably due to the original placement of the species placed in Dumbrellia, Kleine (1933) listed Dumbrellia in Calochromini and synonymized Flabellochromus to Dumbrellia .

The type specimens of Dumbrellia were not available for study. However, P. Hudson provided quality photographs of the pronotum and head of all Australian Dumbrellia , including the type species. Based on the essential characters, these species undoubtedly belong to Plateros Bourgeois, 1879 ( Figs 9–11 View FIGURES 1 – 11 ), which was previously represented in Australia by a single species (Calder 1998). Therefore, we consider Dumbrellia as a synonym of Plateros and transfer all three species to this genus: Plateros brevicornis (Lea, 1998) , comb. nov. (= Calochromus brevicornis Lea, 1898 ), P. pilosicornis ( Lea, 1898) , comb. nov. (= C. pilosicornis Lea, 1898 ) and P. melancholica ( Lea, 1921) , comb. nov. As a result of these changes, Plateros pilosicornis ( Lea, 1898) becomes a junior secondary homonym of Plateros pilosicornis ( Blanchard, 1853) (= Lycus pilosicornis Blanchard, 1853 ) and the new name Plateros barronensis nom. nov. is proposed to replace it.
