Scolopendra mediterranea Verhoeff, 1893 (for further synonyms see Minelli et al. 2006).

Material examined. Algeria: Helvani, near Oran Algeria, under stones, February, 4 th 1954, leg. unknown, 2 exx., BMNH?. ( Fig. 38 View FIGURE 38 ).

Type locality. Algeria (vicinities of Algiers and of Oran, ravines of the Cercle de la Calle) ( Minelli et al. 2006) .

General distribution. Northern Africa: Algeria ( DZ), Morocco (MA); Western Asia: Iran ( IR); Southeastern Europe: Italy ( IT), Malta ( MT); Southwestern Europe: Corsica (FR), Portugal ( PT), Spain ( ES) ( Minelli et al. 2006; Simaiakis and Mylonas 2008).
