Panisopsis setipes (K.Viets, 1911)

Sindacoides ticinensis Bader, 1992 , nov. syn.

Material examined: Panisopsis setipes (K. Viets, 1911) , numerous specimens from Bulgaria, Greece and Italy (see Gerecke 1996).

Sindacoides ticinensis Bader, 1992 , type series NHMB ( Schweiz, Tessin), holotype 3, paratypes 2 3, Claro-Mongrin, 27.07.1977, Bader 79.

Discussion: The character considered by Bader (1992) as diagnostic for S. ticinensis (on each side, dorsocentralia 4 and laterocentralia 4 fused at their facing borders) is also variable within populations of one species and cannot be used for defining higher taxa in this family. In fact, one specimen of the type series has these plates fused on one side, but separate on the other. Similar conditions are found in the compared specimens of Panisopsis setipes with which the type specimens of S. ticinensis agree in all important diagnostic features. Therefore, we consider Sindacoides ticinensis a junior synonym of the latter species and, consequently, the genus name Sindacoides Bader, 1992 is a junior synonym of Panisopsis K. Viets, 1926 .
