( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 )
Diagnosis. Pselaphomorphus iguazuensis is characterized by the combination of reddish coloration and yellow pilosity. This species can be differentiated from P. santaecrucis based on the accessory lobe of aedeagus flattened dorsally, rounded basally and apically with a curved spine.
Description. Male. Body length 2.6 mm. Body flattened dorsally, reddish, with yellow pilosity. Head pearshaped (length 0.6 mm, width 0.4 mm), base of antennal tubercle as long as diameter of eye. Longitudinal sulcus wider between eyes, spindle-shaped. Eyes kidney-shaped (diameter 0.1 mm). Antennal length 1.3 mm. Antennomere length as follows: 1 (0.12 mm), 2 and 3 (0.06 mm), 4 (0.08 mm), 5 (0.1 mm), 6 (0.08 mm), 7 to 10 (0.12 mm), and 11 (0.2 mm), clava inconspicuous. Maxillary palpi amber, with short and even pilosity. Pronotum quadrate (length 0.5 mm, width 0.5 mm). Lateral lobes triangular, basally and apically round. Antebasal lobe rectangular, at least five times wider than long. Pronotal disc quadrate, longitudinal and transverse sulci with same widths thoroughout. Elytra length 0.6 mm, width 0.8 mm. Humeral teeth and elevation present. Sutural fovea transversely elongate and deep, followed by sutural stria. Basal discal fovea rounded. Abdominal segments I–V dorsally with length as follows: 0.5, 0.2, 0.2, 0.2, 0.1 (mm). Ventrally, segment V distally rounded, segment VI with round depression, pygidial suture not visible. Genitalia. Phallobase irregular. Median lobe divided basally into ventral and dorsal pieces. Ventral piece subdivides into two arms; major arm long and slender, minor short and curved. Dorsal piece similar in length and width to major arm in ventral piece. Accessory lobe articulated to phallobase ventrally, dorsally flattened, and distally acute ( Figs. 14 View FIGURE 14 B, 14C).
Type material. Holotype (male, cleared and dissected): “ Argentina, Misiones Province, National Park Iguazu Puerto Canaos. 200 m. XII-8-1990 to I-6-1991. Hill forest. S. & J. Peck” ( FMNH). Paratypes (2): 2 males, Paraguay, Alto Paraná, Puerto Santa Teresa 3-XI-79 ( MHNG).
