Range: —Greater and Lesser Antilles; Guatemala to Guyana and Bolivia (LP).
Ecology: —Rare, known from four Bolivian collections; epiphytic in humid montane forests; 1400–1600 m.
Notes: —Relative to other species of the genus, E. trifurcata is recognized by more or less superficial sori, blades abaxially not thickened at the margins, glabrous adaxial blade surfaces, short circumsoral setae (0.5–1.5 mm), and black to brownish black petioles with few glandular hairs.
