Range: —Antilles; southern Mexico to Panama; Colombia to Guianas, Ecuador and Bolivia (CO, LP); Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles ( Moguel Velázquez & Kessler 2013).
Ecology: —Rare, known from two Bolivian collections; pendent epiphyte in humid forests; 1100–1300 m.
Notes: —Most easily confused with Alansmia senilis , which has rhizome scales. Like many other species of
Alansmia , the spores are ellipsoid, monolete, and binucleate when shed ( Smith 1995b).
