Range: — Costa Rica and Panama; Andes from Colombia to Bolivia (CO, LP).
Ecology: —Uncommon; epiphytic in humid forests, rarely on stone walls or terrestrial; 1750–3100 m.
Notes: —Rhizome scales dark, lustrous brown; veins fully areolate except for some free marginal veinlets. A variable species that may be polyploid, judging from the large sporangial size.
