This species is known from Jamaica, Dominican Republic, southern Mexico to Costa Rica; Colombia to Guyana and Ecuador. Bolivian specimens determined as possibly this species e.g., Jiménez 1004 (LPB), are quite likely M. blepharidea , which is similar morphologically.
