Range:— Bolivia (BE, LP), southeastern Brazil and northeastern Argentina.
Ecology:— Rare, known from four Bolivian collections; epiphytic, rarely saxicolous, in humid forests; 700–900 m.
Notes: —Sporangia and paraphyses of this species lack hairs, whereas N. crassifolium and N. albopunctatissimum usually (but not always) bear hairs. The rhizomes tend to be more short-creeping than those of other species of Niphidium , with the petiole bases usually <1 cm apart, but there is overlap between species.
