Niphidium vittaria (Mett.) Lellinger, Amer. Fern J. View in CoL 62(3): 119. 1973.
= Polypodium vittaria Mett., Fil. Lechl. 1. 8. 1856.
Range:— Central Peru to Bolivia (LP, SC).
Ecology:— Rare, known from four Bolivian collections; saxicolous, and terrestrial, rarely epiphytic, on and among rocks, and on cliffs, in humid forest habitats; 2000–2200 m.
Notes: —Similar to N. anocarpos , distinguished primarily by the slightly longer rhizome scales that are spreading beyond the peltate scale bases. Tryon & Stolze (1993) reluctantly maintained N. vittaria , the later name, as a distinct species and discussed differences in Peru.
