Range: — Costa Rica; Trinidad; Guianas and northern Brazil, across Venezuela, northern Brazil, Colombia to Bolivia (CO, LP, PA).

Ecology: —Fairly common; epiphytic in humid forests; 200–1300 m. In Ecuadorean Amazonia, boiled fronds are rubbed on joints (of the knee, elbow, and shoulder) to alleviate aching ( Macía 2004).

Notes: —For discussion of placement of this species in Microgramma , and use of the older name M. dictyophylla over the long-established M. fuscopunctata , see de la Sota (1986, 2007). It resembles M. percussa , from which it can be distinguished by the erose, translucent rhizome scales (vs. entire, short-ciliate, opaque rhizome scales).
