scientific name

Campyloneurum fuscosquamatum Lellinger, Amer. Fern J.
status

Campyloneurum fuscosquamatum Lellinger, Amer. Fern J. View in CoL 78(1): 21. 1988.

Range: — Colombia to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC) and central Brazil.

Ecology: —Common epiphyte, in humid forests; 150–1600 m. In Ecuadorean Amazonia, a decoction of the crushed fronds is drunk to cure colds and coughs ( Macía 2004).

Notes: —This species belongs to the C. repens group, characterized by open areoles, distant petioles, and short petioles compared to the blade length; however, it can be distinguished by dark brown, caducous rhizome scales that are persistent only at the growing stem tips, and cell lumina yellowish or obscure. Because of the linear-lanceolate rhizome scales, it has been confused with C. coarctatum , but see comments under that species.
