Range: —Eastern Venezuela, Colombia to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC).
Ecology: —Uncommon; epiphytic, less commonly on rocks and rarely terrestrial, in humid forests; 2900–3500 m.
Notes: —The species complex involving S. funckii , S. ptilorhizon , S. dasypleuron (Kunze) A.R.Sm. , and others is in need of revision; it is possible that the Bolivian specimens here placed in S. funckii are not conspecific with those from Venezuela (where the type is from) and Colombia. Pecluma dulcis , also with free veins, has much thicker rhizomes fully covered by larger scales.
