Range: —Known only from Bolivia (BE, CH, CO, LP, SC), but to be expected in southern Peru.
Ecology: —Very common; epiphytic and rarely saxicolous in humid forests; at 400–2500 m.
Notes: —Intermediate between P. astrolepis , from which it differs by its longer, terete petioles, less elongate sori, and broader sterile blades (0.8–2.8 cm vs. 0.6–2 cm wide), and P. macrocarpa , from which it differs by its dark, rounded, long-ciliate rhizome scales, sparser, rounded, smaller blade scales, darker costae, and somewhat smaller size (leaves 6–18 cm vs. 7–30 cm long).
