Range: — U.S.A. (Florida); Antilles; southern Mexico to the Guianas and along to Andes to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC); southeastern Brazil.
Ecology: —Uncommon; epiphytic in humid to semihumid forests; 300–1450 m.
Notes: —Mesoamerican and Caribbean specimens are reported as diploid, whereas South American specimens apparently are tetraploid, suggesting that this species may be a complex.
