Diagnosis. Rostrum slightly longer than half of body. Mesonotum brownish yellow. Pleuron pale brownish yellow, darker near cervical region. First tarsi of legs with distal 1/5 snowy white. Wing with darker spots on stigma and cell Sc; basal section of CuA1 at 1/3–2/5 of cell dm, cell a2 short and narrow. Abdominal segments more or less bicolored.

Description. Male. Body length 10.5 mm, wing length 9.5 mm, rostrum length 6.0 mm.

Head (fig. 47). Brown. Hairs on head brownish black. Antenna length 1.5 mm. Scape dark brown; pedicel and flagellomeres black. Flagellomeres except first flagellomere nearly equal in length; first flagellomere elongate and slightly enlarged, nearly twice as long as second flagellomere. Rostrum black with black hairs.

Thorax. Generally brownish yellow (slightly testaceous in dry-mounted specimens). Pronotum brownish yellow with median area brown. Mesonotum brownish yellow. Scutum brownish yellow. Scutellum brownish yellow. Mediotergite light brownish yellow with posterior area brownish black (fig. 48). Pleuron (fig. 46) pale brownish yellow, darker near cervical region. Hairs on thorax brown. Coxae yellow, fore coxa darker; trochanters yellow; femora black with bases narrowly paler; tibiae black; first tarsi black with distal 1/5 snowy white, remaining tarsi snowy white, terminal tarsi infuscated. Hairs on legs black, white on snowy white regions of tarsi. Wing (fig. 49) pale brown, darker spots on stigma and cell Sc; veins brown. Venation: Sc1 ending at or just beyond fork of Rs, Sc2 near its tip; basal section of CuA1 beyond fork of M and at 1/3–2/5 of cell dm; cell a2 short and narrow. Haltere length 1.2 mm, yellow with knob brown.

Abdomen (fig. 46). Tergites and sternites dark brown with caudal halves darker. Terminal three segments uniformly dark brown. Hairs on abdomen brown.

Hypopygium (figs. 50–51) Generally black. Posterior margin of tergite nine with broad and deep U-shaped notch. Gonocoxite conical with long thin hairs on inside face. Clasper of gonostylus slender and slightly curved, tip bidentate. Lobe of gonostylus stout and curved, tip slender and blunt. Interbase schistose and nearly oval, tip relatively acute. Paramere long, straight and club-shaped, tip blunt. Aedeagus long, slender and curved dorsally, nearly 3 times as long as paramere.

Female. Body length 10.5 mm, wing length 8.5 mm, rostrum length 5.5 mm. Similar to male. Tenth tergite brownish black. Cercus dark brown. Hypogynial valve brownish yellow with base and tip darker. Tip of hypogynial valve at middle of cercus (fig. 50).

Specimens examined. Holotype male ( USNM), China: Taiwan, Kotosho, 1920. III.15–IV.10, T. Okuni and J. Sonan. Other materials: 1 male 1 female ( CAU), China: Yunnan, Baoshan, Baihualing (25°17'22"N 98°48'24"E, 1375 m), 2007. V.29, Xingyue Liu.

Distribution. China (Yunnan, Taiwan).

Remarks. Male hypopygium and female of this species are described and illustrated in detail for the first time. For description and illustration of this species, also see Alexander (1923a) and Alexander (1927) respectively.
