Champion. ”. Secondary labels: “ B.C.A.Col. III.(2). Calocladon chiriquense .” “ SYNTYPE ” .
Diagnosis. The species can be differentiated by body coloration similar to C. chiriquense , but presenting maxillary palpomere 2 2.4× longer than palpomere 3, and branch of third antennomere 2.3× longer than antennomere, pronotum almost as long as wide, and male genitalia with shorter, V-shaped and apically single-hooked laterally projected parameres, and phallobase as long as half of phallus.
Description. Pronotum yellow. Elytra yellow, elytral suture light brown at basal ¼ ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16–20 ). Trochanters light brown, femur dark brown with basal 1/3 light brown. Tibiae dark brown.
Eyes large, eye diameter 1.7× longer interocular distance. Antennomere 4 as long as 5, 1.4× longer than 3. Branch of antennomere 3 2.3× longer than antennomere. Mandibles hooked. Labial palpi short, terminal palpomere rounded apically. Maxillary palpi elongate, palpomere 2 about 2.4× longer than palpomere 3 and 1.1× longer than 4, palpomere 4 rounded distally. Pronotum almost as long as wide, posterior margin bisinuate. Elytra 3.6× longer than humeral width. Trochanters as long as third of femur length, tibiae as long as femur. Phallus broad medially being as wide as phallobase in ventral view, forming phallic folding projected ventrally in lateral view. Phallus distally narrow and rounded. Internal sac with many conspicuous spiculae distally. Parameres almost V-shaped, basal half projected dorsally, apical half with distal hook laterally projected, parameres as long as phallus half. Phallobase as long as half of phallus ( Figs. 8–9 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Body length: 5.8 – 6.4mm, humeral width: 1.3 mm.
Distribution: Panama.
Etymology: named after the collection site.
Comments: The type series of this new species is comprising three individuals from Calocladon chiriquense syntypes.
