Heilus inornatus ( Kirsch, 1874)

( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 )

Heilipus inornatus Kirsch, 1874:400 (description); Blackwelder 1947:818 (checklist).

Hilipus inornatus: Dalla Torre et al. 1932:31 View in CoL (catalog).

Heilus inornatus: Kuschel 1955:297 (combination); Wibmer & O’Brien 1986:145 (checklist).

Type Material. Heilipus inornatus Kirsch, 1874 : we examined the images of the holotype ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ), undetermined sex, bearing the following label “Pozuzu Kirsch; Type; H9H; Staatl. Museum fur Tierkunde, Dresden; Heilipus inornatus Ksch ”, deposited in the SGND.

Diagnosis. Bright black integument; body densely covered with yellow setae, without apparent macula; pronotum with subparallel sides, 1.5 times wider than long; pronotum and pronotal disc with oblique and transverse granules, elytra with granules transverse at base and remote and smaller at apex.

Geographical distribution. We did not examine any specimens of this species. Little is known about the geographical distribution of H. inornatus . The only information available is that it occurs in Bolivia and Peru ( Wibmer & O’Brien 1986).

Associated plants. Unknown.

Remarks. Heilus inornatus differs from the other Heilus species in the absence of macula or clusters of bristles on the elytra, with a homogeneous and dense coating of yellow bristles on the pronotum and in the elytral interstria.
