Head 0.6 × as long as wide. Clypeus 2.0 × as broad as high, sparsely punctate, slightly convex in lateral view. Face 1.7–1.95 (HT: 1.9) × as broad as high, densely punctate ( Fig. 4 B View FIGURE 4 ), convex medially in lateral view. Malar space 0.4–0.55 (HT: 0.5) × as long as basal mandibular width. POL 1.4–1.8 (HT: 1.5) × as long as OD. OOL 1.0–1.2 (HT: 1.0) × as long as OD. Vertex with short setae, ca. 1.2 × as height as lateral ocellus in lateral view. Antenna with 37–38 (HT: 37) flagellomeres. FL I 4.0–4.4 (HT: 4.0) × as long as maximum depth in lateral view and 1.7–1.8 (HT: 1.7) × as long as FL II.

Mesosoma densely punctate. Epomia absent. Speculum with a conspicuous smooth area. Mesosternum with long and dense setae, ca. 1.0 × as long as maximum depth of FL I in lateral view. Propodeum with posterior transverse carinalargely absent except for short, trace-like ridge ( Fig. 4 D View FIGURE 4 ). Fore wing length 9.0–10.5 (HT: 9.8) mm. Areolet received vein 2m-cu slightly distant (ca. width of 2m-cu) of the outer angle. Nervellus intercepted at middle. Hind femur 6.0–6.5 (HT: 6.0) × as long as maximum depth in lateral view. Ratio of length of hind first to fifth tarsomeres 3.9–4.2 (HT: 4.2): 2.0: 1.45–1.5 (HT: 1.5): 0.8–0.9 (HT: 0.9): 1.0. Hind second tarsomere 4.4–5.0 (HT: 4.4) × as long as maximum depth in lateral view. Tarsal claws pectinate.

Metasoma. T I 1.95–2.15 (HT: 2.15) × as long as maximum width, densely punctate except for smooth areas on apex and base, transversely rugulose antero-medially. T II 1.05–1.15 (HT: 1.15) × as long as maximum width. T II to T V finely punctate and with minute transverse striae. Ovipositor sheath 1.6–1.8 (HT: 1.6) × as long as hind tibia.

Coloration ( Figs 4 A, B, D View FIGURE 4 ). Body (excluding wings and legs) black. Clypeus except for dorsal margin and palpi dark yellowish brown. Mandible with a large yellow area and reddish brown teeth. Tegula with a yellow area anteriorly. Each posterior margin of T II to T VI narrowly tinged with reddish brown to yellowish brown. Ovipositor reddish brown. Wings hyaline. Veins and pterostigma blackish-brown except for yellowish-brown wing base. Coxae, trochanters and trochantelli black except for yellowish brown apical margin of each trochanter. Fore and mid legs reddish yellow except for white base of each tibia. Hind femur blackish brown except for yellowish brown base and apex. Hind tibia blackish brown except for white base. Hind tarsal spurs and tarsus whitish yellow except for hind first tarsomere. Yellow area of tegula sometimes enlarged. Blackish brown area of hind tibia sometimes tinged with yellowish brown.

Male (n = 3). Similar to female. Clypeus 2.2–2.4 × as broad as high. Malar space 0.2–0.3 × as long as basal mandibular width. POL 1.3–1.5 × as long as OD. OOL 0.9 × as long as OD. Antenna with 44–46 flagellomeres. FL I 1.55 × as long as FL II. Posterior transverse carina of propodeum complete. Hind femur 6.6–6.8 × as long as maximum depth in lateral view. Tarsal claws simple. T I 2.3–2.5 × as long as maximum width. T II 1.35–1.5 × as long as maximum width.

Coloration ( Fig. 4 C View FIGURE 4 ). Similar to female. Face, clypeus, mandible except for teeth, a pair of lateral longitudinal stripes of face, palpi yellow. Pronotum with yellow markings on collar and postero-dorsal corner. Mesoscutum with a pair of antero-lateral yellow markings. Subtegular ridge tinged with yellow. Yellow posterior margins of metasomal tergites wider than female. Coxae, trochanters and trochantelli with large yellow area except for hind coxa. Hind coxa with a small ventral yellow marking. Hind femur, tibia and tarsus paler than female.

Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu).

Bionomics. Host unknown. Adults were collected in May and June.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from Japan.

Remarks. This species resembles A. brevipetiolaris but can be distinguished from the latter by the following combination of character states: mesoscutum entirely black (with a pair of yellow markings in A. brevipetiolaris ); fore and mid femora and tibiae entirely reddish brown except for a basal white spot of mid tibia (more or less darkened in A. brevipetiolaris ); clypeus 2.0 × as broad as high (2.6 × in A. brevipetiolaris ); ovipositor sheath 1.6–1.76 × as long as hind tibia (1.4–1.6 × as long as hind tibia in A. brevipetiolaris ).
