( Figs. 3 View FIGURES 2–5 , 15 View FIGURES 15–18 , 21, 22 View FIGURES 19–22 , 26 View FIGURES 23–26 )

Chaudoir, 1862: 303; Lacordaire, 1854: 181–182; Parry, 1849: 180–181.

Head. Large, rather sparsely setose on dorsal surface, separated from neck by a deep transverse sulcus. Labrum with a row of six elongate setae along the apical margin. Clypeus rectangular, subtruncate with a row of eight elongate setae at a distance from the anterior margin and three to four setae along the lateral margins. Anterior supraorbital seta situated near inner margin of eye at about middle of eye, posterior supraorbital seta situated near posterior margin of eye. Genae large and convex, slightly wider than eyes. Right mandible thicker than left, and somewhat sinuate on outer border. Labial palpomere 3 trisetose on medial side and truncate.

Pronotum. Surface of disc glabrous with very fine micro-reticulation. Apical margin straight, with a fringe of short setae; apical angles protruded forward, recurved; lateral margin expanded and bordered, moderately sinuate in front of the posterior angles, a deep emarginate notch near tip on postero-lateral margin close to the posterior angle; posterior angles straight; posterior transverse sulcus distinct.

Scutellum. Pointed posteriorly, with anterior margin setose.

Elytra. Humerus evenly rounded, smooth, without tooth, barely projected; elytral apices obliquely truncate with narrow membranous margins, apical margin strongly sinuate near outer angles; intervals gently convex, irregularly punctate and rather densely pilose. Micro-reticulation extremely fine and superficial, consisting of more or less transverse meshes. All striae well impressed but not extended to apex; stria 7 regularly impressed; interval 9 with series of uninterrupted rows of umbilical setae of very different lengths; lateral channel with umbilical setae widely interrupted at middle.

Hindwings. Fully developed.

Abdomen. Pygidium with numerous very small setae and margin entire in both sexes.

Venter. Ventral surface of head, sternum of pro-, meso- and meta-sternum moderately pubescent. Abdominal sternites entirely pilose; terminal sternum in both sexes on both sides with five or six elongate setae near margin. Abdominal sternite 3 of male with single circular, median depression and patch of long filamentous setae.

Legs. Narrow and elongate. Pro- and meso- femora with dense, reddish setae on ventral surface in basal half; tarsi without dense hairs on ventral surface. Male protarsus with pads of rather sparse adhesive squamose setae ventrally on three basal tarsomeres.

Measurements. Male (n=2), TLA = 19.0–19.5; TLB = 16.0–17.0; TW = 6.0–6.5; PL = 3–3.5; PW = 4.5– 5.0; EL = 9.0–9.5. Female (n=1), TLA = 19.0; TLB = 16.0; TW = 6.5; PL = 3.0; PW = 4.5; EL = 9.02.

Specimens examined (n=3). 1 male, labeled “95” / “ Ex-Musaeo Chaudoir ” ; 1 female, “ Ex-Musaeo Chaudoir ” ; 1male, “ Ceylon ” / “Ex-Musaeo Mniszech”. All three specimens with the label “ceylanicus Parry , Ceylan, Fileir (not clear)”, MNHN .
