Orbella putshkovi Bérenger, 2007 View in CoL

Discussion. Orbella putshkovi (Figs. 28–34) can be distinguished from other species of the genus mainly by the structure of the medial process of pygophore, which is directed hindwards (Figs. 32–34), whereas other species of Orbella have a more vertical process ( Bérenger 2007) (see also Figs. 26–27).

Berénger (2007) stated that the male holotype of O. putshkovi has the abdominal sternites bright yellow. However, two examined males from the state of Pará, Brazil, show extensive black markings on the abdominal sternites (Figs. 29–30). One of the specimens also presents a pair of small black markings in the middle portion of hind femur (Fig. 31), whereas in the original description of O. putshkovi the femora are completely yellow. The particular abdominal color pattern of the specimens of O. putshkovi examined here is similar to that of O. exceptio Berénger 2007 , but the two cannot be confused because the latter species does not have parameres, has a different head shape, and has a different structure of the median process of the pygophore ( Bérenger 2007).

Distribution. Orbella putshkovi (Fig. 28) was described based on a male from French Guiana ( Bérenger 2007). The specimens examined below represent a new record from Brazil (Pará).
