Stigmatogaster cf. gracilis (Meinert, 1870) View in CoL

Published records: none.

New records: Ein Tamar (1 specimen 1963); Ezuz (1 specimen 2011). Distribution in Israel: both localities are extremely arid, with rocky substrates, average annual temperatures between 20–24˚C and annual precipitations between 50–100 mm ( Figure 4 View FIGURE 4 B). Global distribution: S. gracilis is known above all from the western and central part of the Mediterranean region.

Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes. The specimens examined agree with the well known species S. gracilis in all diagnostic characters. However, Israeli populations are widely disjunct from the known range of the species, thus requiring further studies.
