Gonatopus distinguendus Kieffer [in Kieffer & Marshall 1905]: 116. Type locality: England, Weymouth , Marshall’s collection (♀ lectotype and paralectotype, NMNH).

Description (♀). Apterous ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 ), length 2.7–3.7 mm. Color. Color very variable from black to reddish, with intermediate colors. Head reddish or testaceous-reddish or yellow, except black or brown band on vertex; occasionally temple with black spots; mesoscutum reddish brown to black; mesoscutellum and metapectal-propodeal complex black, except testaceous distal apex of first abdominal tergum; metasoma yellow-testaceous, darkened in distal apex; legs yellow-testaceous or testaceous, except whitish tarsus; meso- and metacoxa partly brown. Head ( Figs 10 View FIGURE 10 A–10C, 11). Antenna clavate, antennomeres in following proportions: 15:12:30:15:16:13:13:12:11:18; head excavated, shiny, unsetose, slightly granulate; frontal line complete; occipital carina incomplete, shortly present on sides of lateral ocelli; POL = 3, OL = 5, OOL = 19; palpal formula 4/2 or 5/2. Mesosoma ( Figs 1D View FIGURE 1 , 10 View FIGURE 10 D–10F, 11). Pronotum dull, granulate, crossed by strong transverse furrow; mesoscutum shiny, unsculptured or granulate; metanotum transversely striate; mesopleuron and metapleuron not or slightly transversely striate; metapectal-propodeal complex dull, completely granulate, with first abdominal tergum slightly transversely striate; meso-metapleural suture obsolete; protarsomeres in following proportions: 32:5:9:30:44; enlarged claw with one small subapical tooth and four-six peg-like setae or bristles; protarsomere 5 with inner margin proximally serrated, with two rows of 12–21 lamellae situated on distinct prominence; distal apex with 3–11 lamellae and two very long lamellae; tibial spurs 1/0/1.
