Female (length about 2.4mm): head generally dark metallic green mixed purple; scape mostly pale orange, conspicuously paler than dark brown flagellum; mesoscutum black with weak blue sheen, scutellum dull, dark purple brown and coppery, apex and side metallic blue-green; tegula dark brown; fore and hind femora dark brown, mid femur yellow; fore and mid tibiae pale orange, mid tibia with a faint subbasal ring, hind tibia mostly dark brown; head about 3X frontovertex width and 2.8X as wide as mouth opening; clypeal margin slightly emarginate, more or less straight; piliferous punctures on frontovertex shallow and indistinct, hardly larger than eye facet; ocelli forming an angle of about 50°; posterior ocellus much closer to eye than occipital margin; scrobes very deep and elongate, separated from anterior ocellus by less than 0.5X length of torulus; antenna (Fig. 1510) with scape about 4.5X as long as broad and slightly longer than width of frontovertex; pedicel slightly shorter than F1; all funicle segments longer than broad; linear sensilla on F2-F6, or absent from F2; clava with segments becoming gradually shorter towards apex, sensory area slightly enlarged and forming a very slight, oblique, apical truncation; mandible with two sharp teeth and a truncation; mesoscutum and scutellum with similar, shallow polygonally reticulate sculpture, perhaps slightly deeper and coarser proximally on scutellum; scutellum convex; fore wing (Fig. 1511) about 2.4X as long as broad, marginal vein (Fig. 1512) about 2X as long as broad, costal cell with only a single line of setae dorsally, situated in apical half, linea calva open; ovipositor slightly exserted, the exserted part about 0.5X as long as mid tibial spur. Male: unknown.

DISTRIBUTION. Costa Rica ( Noyes & Hanson, 1996).

HOSTS. Unknown.

MATERIAL EXAMINED.

Type material. Holotype E: COSTA RICA, Guanacaste, Guanacaste NP, Estacion Cacao , 950-1200m, 13.ii.1995 (L. Masner) . Holotype in CNC .

COMMENTS. The unusually long funicle segments and relatively deep, elongate scrobes suggest that this species may be misplaced in Psyllaephagus .
