Distribution. Western Atlantic— Bermuda, USA (Florida), Caribbean Sea to Brazil (Atol das Rocas, Fernando de Noronha, Pará, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul) ( Provenzano 1959; Coelho & Ramos-Porto 1980, 1987; Rieger 1998; Melo 1999; Mantelatto et al. 2001; Coelho-Filho 2006; Almeida et al. 2007a; Coelho et al. 2007; Felder et al. 2009).
