Paguristes puncticeps Benedict, 1901b View in CoL

Paguristes puncticeps Benedict, 1901b: 144 View in CoL , fig. 4, pl. 4.

Material examined. None.

Distribution. Western Atlantic— USA (Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Cuba, Caribbean Sea to Brazil (São Paulo) ( Provenzano 1959; Melo 1999; Strasser & Price 1999; Felder et al. 2009).

Remarks. This species is rare and absent in most previous checklists. Despite the absence of specimens collected in São Paulo (during our survey and material deposited in the collections analyzed), we were able to sample tissue of a specimen from Jamaica deposited at the USNM and obtain a sequence of 16S, which may be useful in future comparisons. Sequence accession number (GenBank): USNM 104203—16S ( MT835463 View Materials ).
