Distribution. Western Atlantic— Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil (Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), Uruguay, Argentina ( Efford 1976; Calado 1998; Melo 1999; Veloso & Cardoso 1999; Spivak et al. 2019).

Remarks. Phylogenetic research in progress by some of us (Mantelatto, Paixão and Robles, unpublished data) reveals that E. brasiliensis is limited to South America, with an occurrence gap from Venezuela to Bahia ( Brazil), and abundant from Espírito Santo to south of Brazil.
