( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 A–F)

Hapalopus inflatus Simon 1889: 209 (description of ♂). Hemiercus inflatus: Simon 1903: 929 , fig. 1084; Rudloff 1997: 14, fig. 21. Holothele inflata: Schmidt 1993: 67 .

Type material. Holotype ♂, Hapalopus inflatus , MNHN 4616, Puerto Cabello, Carabobo, Venezuela, examined.

Diagnosis. Males can be distinguished from those of other species by the aspect of the male palpal bulb ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 A–C), which bears a long and serrated keel located at the ventral face of the prolateral side fused with the paraembolic apophysis. Females unknown.

Description. Male (MNHN 4616). Carapace: length 9.9; width 7.5. Eye tubercle: length 1.7; width 1.4. Labium: length 1.5; width 1.1. Sternum: length 4.1; width 3.9. Basal segment of chelicerae with 11 teeth. Labium subquadrate, with more than 200 cuspules. Maxillae with more than 100 cuspules. Thoracic fovea procurved. Palpal bulb with short embolus, small keels on dorsal side, long and serrated keel on ventral prolateral side. Paraembolic apophysis fused with long serrated keel ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 A–C). Palpal tibia swollen, with short spines ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 E, F). Retrolateral branch of tibial spur slightly curved, wide tip, with spine inserted on its mid portion, prolateral branch the same size of the contiguous spine ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D). Metatarsus I bending retrolaterally to tibial spur. Note: The holotype, the only specimem available, is very damaged, with legs and leg segments broken. Therefore, total length, spination and legs and palp measurements could not be reliably taken.
