Erastria miasma Hampson, 1891 , Illustration typical specimens of Lepidoptera Heterocera in the collection of the Brithish Museum 8: 12, 73, Pl. 145: 16 (Type-locality: India, Tamil Nadu, Nilgiris [Syntypes: BMNH, London]). Synonymy: Trilophonota tegulata Wileman & West, 1929.

Diagnosis. Metachrostis miasma differs from M. sinevi by its darker brown coloration and wing pattern (see diagnosis for M. sinevi ), a narrower valva without extension on its dorsal margin, and by a relatively thinner and longer aedeagus with a thin, constricted coecum and small proximal extension. Adult ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 17 – 22 ). Wingspan: 16–17 mm. Head, body and wings dark greyish-brown; in wing pattern all crosslines lines black; basal and subbasal fields not darker than background; antemedial line thin; medial line widely shadowed on inner side; postmedial line distinct, thin, waved; orbicular spot dark brown; reniform spot grey-brown, with dark-brown borders. Subterminal field between postmedial and submarginal lines with dark-brown waved band. In male genitalia ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 29 – 32 ) uncus curved; valva narrow with parallel dorsal and ventral margins; ventral margin extended medially and with slightly constrictde distally; aedeagus relatively thin and long with long, constricted coecum; proximal extension of aedeagus small, oval. Female genitalia not examined.

Distribution. Japan: Honshu, Tokai district; China, India, Philippines, Indonesia (Sulawesi), New Caledonia, St. Matthias Isl., Australia.
