Glaucocharis flavifasciaria sp. n.

( Figs. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 10 , 12 View FIGURES 11 – 16 )

Type material. Holotype 3, Pinghe, Xishui (28°19ʹN, 106°12ʹE), Guizhou Province, 1200 m, 1.vi.2000, leg. Yanli Du, genitalia slide No. LHM01182 ( NKUM).

Diagnosis. This species is similar to G. r a m o n a ( Bleszynski, 1965) externally, but can be identified by the uncus bearing two long setae ventrally near base, the gnathos semicircular distally, and the costa with a spinous and broad triangular protuberance; in G. r a m o n a, the uncus does not have any setae, the gnathos is S-shaped distally, the costa does not possess the protuberance.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 10 ). Forewing length 6.0 mm. Frons and vertex pale yellow. Labial palpus pale yellow, first segment pale brown on outer side, third segment pale brown distally. Maxillary palpus pale yellow, pale brown basally and distally. Antenna with dorsal surface pale brown and yellowish white, ventral surface pale yellow ciliated white. Patagium and tegula pale yellow mixed with pale brown. Thorax pale brown mixed with yellowish white. Forewing densely covered with pale brown scales; antemedian line blackish brown, outcurved slightly; broad pale yellow fascia along outside of antemedian line, with width about one seventh length of forewing; postmedian line blackish brown, inconspicuous, angled outwards at anterior one third and inwards at posterior one third; apex pale yellow, with white apical stripe; termen orange yellow, with three black marginal spots; fringe pale brown except basally white at apex. Hindwing white, apex sparsely covered with pale brown scales; fringe white, pale brown near base. Legs yellowish white, femur and tibia of foreleg pale brown on outer side.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 16 ). Uncus slender, downcurved slightly, narrowed to blunt apex; ventral surface with two small triangular protuberances near base, each bearing a long seta. Gnathos slightly shorter than uncus; basal two fifths narrow and straight; distal three fifths broad and semicircular, armed with sclerotized pleats. Valva broad in basal two fifths, narrowed from two fifths to bluntly rounded apex. Costa with spinous broad triangular protuberance arising from between basal one sixth and middle, concave beyond middle. Sacculus concave dorsomedially. Juxta large, foot-shaped, spinous except naked base; lateral arms narrowly banded basally, spinous triangular distally. Phallus long and thin, a bit shorter than valva, curved medially; cornuti being many small spines arranged in a ring, situated distally.

Female unknown.

Distribution. China (Guizhou).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix flav - = yellow, and the Latin fasciarius = fascia, in reference to the forewing with a pale yellow fascia along outerside of the antemedian line.
