Current status: Sturnidoecus distinguendus Ansari, 1968 .

Type host: Lamprotornis purpuropterus Rupple [sic] = Lamprotornis purpuroptera Rüppell.

Type locality: Uganda .

Type material: Holotype male [slide NHML 010694496] deposited in the NHML from the Meinertzhagen collection. This male is erroneously labelled as “ Syntype ”, as Gustafsson & Bush (2017: 439) listed it, but Ansari (1968: 32) designated a single male as type material, hence it is the holotype.

Remark: Gustafsson & Bush (2017: 366, 439) changed the identity of the type host of Sturnidoecus distinguendus to “ Lamprotornis iris (Oustalet) ” without giving any explanation. Lamprotornis purpuroptera is a valid species, not a junior synonym of L. iris (see Craig & Feare 2020).
