DISTRIBUTION: N. Nigeria; Niger; S.W. Mauritania to Morocco to Somalia; Arabia and Syria to S.W. Iran.

COMMENT: Includes deserti; see Corbet, 1978: 152, and Harrison, 1972, The Mammals of Arabia, 3:419; but also see Ranck, 1968, Bull. U.S. Nat. Mus„ 275:1 -264, who considered deserti a distinct species.
