Foveomicrus indicus View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs 1–19 View FIGURES 1–3 View FIGURES 4–14 View FIGURES 15–19 )

Type material. Holotype: INDIA (KERALA): ♂, two labels: “INDIA: Kerala / Cardamon hills 15km / SW Munnar,Kallar Vall. / 1000m,6– 18.12.1993 / D. Boukal & Z. Kejval ” [white, printed], “ FOVEOMICRUS / indicus m. / P. Jałoszyński, 2019 / HOLOTYPUS” [red, printed] ( MHNG) . Paratypes: 7 exx. (one specimen disarticulated in permanent mount), same data as for holotype, except for yellow “ PARATYPUS ” labels ( MHNG, cPJ) .

Diagnosis. As for genus; endophallus with C-shaped tubular structure in median region.

Description. Body of male ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1–3 ) stout, strongly convex, light brown, setae silverish; BL 0.66 mm.

Head ( Figs. 1–2 View FIGURES 1–3 ) broadest at large, strongly convex eyes, HL 0.09 mm, HW 0.18 mm; frons and vertex con- fluent and weakly convex. Punctures on vertex and frons distinct, large and deep, densely and evenly distributed, separated by spaces subequal to diameters of punctures; setae short, sparse, suberect. Antennae ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 4–14 ) slender, AnL 0.28 mm; antennomere I only slightly elongate, II about twice as long as broad; III as long as broad, IV barely noticeably longer than broad, V slightly elongate, longer than IV, VI barely noticeably longer than broad, V slightly elongate, shorter than V, VII indistinctly longer than broad, VIII as long as broad, slightly shorter than VII, IX indistinctly transverse, distinctly broader and longer than VIII, X about as long as broad, much larger than IX, XI about 1.7 × as long as broad, indistinctly narrower than X and about as long as IX–X together.

Pronotum ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1–3 ) broadest slightly in front of middle; PL 0.20 mm, PW 0.30 mm. Anterior margin weakly concave, anterior corners subtriangular and blunt, weakly obtuse-angled, lateral margins rounded and strongly microserrate ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 4–14 ), base arcuate with broad and shallow emargination and additionally with narrow emargination in front of mesoscutellar shield. Sides of pronotum with flattened area demarcated from median region by step-wise ridge connecting anterior and posterior lateral foveae, pronotal base with shallow and diffuse transverse impression connecting shallow impressions in which two pairs of foveae are situated. Punctures on pronotal disc similar to those on frons and vertex, evenly distributed except for narrow area adjacent to lateral ridge joining lateral foveae, which is impunctate. Setae slightly longer than those on frons and vertex, similarly sparse, suberect.

Elytra ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1–3 ) together oval, broadest distinctly in front of middle; EL 0.38 mm, EW 0.34 mm, EI 1.11; humeral calli indistinct, humeral denticles well-defined but blunt; humeral carinae narrow, sharply marked, slightly exceeding half length of elytra. Punctures on elytra slightly shallower and sparser than those on pronotum; setae similar to those on pronotum. Hind wings absent.

Legs moderately long and slender; unmodified.

Aedeagus ( Figs 16–19 View FIGURES 15–19 ) elongate; AeL 0.13 mm; median lobe in ventral view drop-shaped, broadest in sub-basal region, in subapical area strongly narrowing toward subtriangular apex of dorsal wall of aedeagus, ventrally ostium closed by subtriangular apical plate rounded at apex and not reaching apex of ventral wall; endophallus with elongate median sclerotized structure distally connected with long, C-shaped tubular component; each paramere with one apical seta.

Female. Not determined in the studied material.

Distribution. Southern India.

Etymology. After the country name.
