Material examined. Holotype: apterous female, CHINA: Yunnan Province, Honghe, Lüchun, Huanglian shan Nature Reserve, 23°03’N, 102°04’E, 22. IV. 2011, 1800 m, leg. Zhen Ye (NKUM); Paratypes: 10 males and 6 females, apterous, 4 females, macropterous (NKUM), 5 males and 5 females, apterous (NCTN), same data as holotype; 28 males and 13 females, apterous, Yunnan Province, Kunming city, Mt. Xi Shan, 24. VI. 1978, leg. Shuzhi Ren (NKUM).

Description of apterous female (Fig. 3). Color: ground color bright reddish, head reddish, labrum brownish, with buccula orange, rostrum yellowish with black apex; antennae shining black except basal part of antennal segment 1 dull yellowish; pronotum reddish, medial part with a distinctly blackish mark (Fig. 11), posterior part with scattered slightly dark punctures, behind head along anterior margin with a row of dark punctures; legs mainly dull orange, apex of femur blackish, tibia almost brownish, all tarsi infuscated; abdomen dorsum mainly dull reddish except lateral parts of mediotergites 2–4 with distinctly black marks (Fig. 17); abdomen venter orange. Structural characteristics: body length 3.56–3.6 (holotype: 3.58), medium-sized, stout, spindle-shape in dorsal view, mainly with short, blackish, appressed pubescence and dorsum anteriorly and laterally covered by suberect, thicker and blackish hairs; head deflected, head length: 0.35–0.36, head width: 0.78–0.81, about 2.22 times head length, hind margin of head laterally and ventrally with some black peg-like spiculae; antennae relatively short and stout, about 0.45 times as long as body, lengths of antennal segments 1–4: 0.4, 0.34, 0.36, 0.5; pronotum hind margin broadly rounded, pronotum length: 1.24–1.26, pronotum width: 1.38–1.41, medially reaching basal third of mediotergite 2, lateral part of pronotum medially with distinct constriction (Fig. 11), posterior part distinctly wider than anterior, posterior part with scattered slightly dark punctures, behind head along anterior margin with a row of dark punctures, mesonotum and metanotum completely hidden beneath pronotal lobe except laterally, prosternum anteromedially with one row of black peg-like spiculae; legs mainly with decumbent, suberect and blackish hairs, tarsi of fore leg short and incrassate, tarsi of middle and hind legs long and slender; lengths of leg segments (femur, tibia, and tarsi): fore leg: 0.88, 0.8, and 0.35 (0.05 + 0.3), middle leg: 1.14, 1.2, and 1.05 (0.3 + 0.35 + 0.4), hind leg: 1.34, 1.54, and 0.74 (0.08 + 0.3 + 0.36); mediotergites not flat, after mediotergite 3 slightly depressed; connexiva stout and strongly raised, moderately convergent, the smallest distance between connexiva at apex of segment 7 approximately 3.5 times thickness of one connexivum, mediotergites 1–3 with short, sparse hairs; mediotergites 4–6 almost bare; hind margin of mediotergite 7 with cluster of dense, relatively long, blackish, posterodorsad directed hairs (Figs. 17, 24), connexivum 8 with relatively short, dense, blackish hairs in caudal aspect. Genital segments: gonocoxa 1 simple, platelike, exposed; proctiger small, directed posteriad, with dense, short hairs.

Description of apterous male. Color as in apterous female. Body length 3.2–3.25; structure of head including antennae as in female, head length: 0.32–0.34, head width: 0.71–0.74, about 2.21 times head length, antennae about 0.49 times as long as body, lengths of antennal segments 1–4: 0.41, 0.33, 0.34, 0.5; pronotum medially with a constriction, posterior part slightly wider than anterior, pronotum length: 1.07–1.09, pronotum width: 1.25–1.28; lengths of leg segments (femur, tibia, and tarsi): fore leg: 0.93, 0.79, and 0.36 (0.05 + 0.31), middle leg: 1.18, 1.25,and 1.07 (0.31 + 0.36 + 0.4), hind leg: 1.3, 1.53, and 0.72 (0.07 + 0.29 + 0.36); grasping comb relatively long, about 0.37 times fore tibia length; abdomen pleurally and ventrally without special modification, mediotergites almost flat, connexiva slightly raised, weakly convergent, all mediotergites and laterotergites with long blackish hairs; segment 8 (Fig. 33) about 1.5 times as long as wide, with dorsal hind margin concave, pygophore and proctiger ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 36 – 40 ) simple, paramere ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 41 – 45 ) with relatively broad basal part and slightly wide distally twisted part, apically blunt; other characters as in apterous female.

Description of macropterous female (Fig. 6). Ground color as in apterous female. Body relatively large, body length 3.78–3.81 (including fore wing); structure of head including antennae as in female, head length: 0.33–0.34, head width: 0.74–0.75, about 2.24 times head length, antennae about 0.41 times as long as body, lengths of antennal segments 1–4: 0.42, 0.32, 0.35, 0.45; pronotum length: 1.54–1.56, pronotum width: 1.76–1.78, pronotum with a constriction in front of humeral corners, medial part with a distinctly blackish mark, humeral corners prominent, whole surface with numerous scattered punctures; lengths of leg segments (femur, tibia, and tarsi): fore leg: 0.78, 0.72, and 0.36 (0.05 + 0.3), middle leg: 1.09, 1.11, and 0.97 (0.3 + 0.33 + 0.34), hind leg: 1.26, 1.5 and 0.69 (0.06 + 0.25 + 0.38); forewings mainly blackish brown, posteriorly slightly surpass cauda of body, laterally adjacent to medial edge of raised connexiva, hemielytron with thick corium with two closed cells, black hairs on veins relatively short and suberect, veins adjacent to raised connexiva reddish (Fig. 14); other characters as in apterous female.

Description of macropterous male. Ground color as in macropterous female. Body relatively larger, body length 3.58–3.63 (including fore wing); structure of head including antennae as in female, head length: 0.29–0.31, head width: 0.72–0.74, about 2.43 times head length, antennae about 0.41 times as long as body, lengths of antennal segments 1–4: 0.4, 0.31, 0.32, 0.46; pronotum length: 1.49–1.51, pronotum width: 1.63–1.64; lengths of leg segments (femur, tibia, and tarsi): fore leg: 0.78, 0.72, and 0.36 (0.05 + 0.3), middle leg: 1.09, 1.11, and 0.97 (0.3 + 0.33 + 0.34), hind leg: 1.26, 1.5, and 0.69 (0.06 + 0.25 + 0.38); grasping comb relatively long, about 0.37 times fore tibia length; other characters as in macropterous female.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the name of type locality, Yunnan Province, China.

Diagnosis. P. yunnanensis sp. nov. seems to be closely related to P. crinalis sp. nov.; however, P. yunnanensis sp. nov. can be distinguished by these characters: relatively larger body (Figs. 3, 6); hind margin of mediotergite 7 with a cluster of dense, relatively long, blackish, posterodorsad directed hairs (Figs. 17, 24); and connexivum 7 with sparse, relatively short, posterodorsad directed, black hairs; further differences are found in the shape of paramere ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 41 – 45 ), a paramere with relatively broad basal part and slightly wide distally twisted part, apically blunt.

Although very little known about the biology and ecology of the species in genus Perittopus , the Figs. 46 & 47 View FIGURES 46 – 47 indicate one of the mating seasons of P. yunnanensis sp. nov..
