Variations and additional information to the original description. Female. Length. Body: 3.6–4.0 mm. Fore wing: 2.25–2.5 mm. Hind wing: 1.6–1.8 mm.

Head. In dorsal view, transverse, 1.1× as wide as long ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9–23. 9–11 ), 1.1× as wide as eye, 1.4–1.5× as wide as mesosoma, 1.05–1.1× as wide as long (length of head in lateral view). Shortest distance from occiput to stemmaticum 1.6× stemmaticum height. Shortest distance from between outer margin of lateral ocellus and margin of eye 1.0× stemmaticum width. In lateral view, head 1.3× as long as high ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 9–23. 9–11 ); temple 1.45–1.6× as long as eye. Eye 0.9–1.0× as long as high. Mandible 2.0–2.2× as long as apical width ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9–23. 9–11 ), apex 0.6–0.8 as wide as base. Face 1.9–2.0× as wide as high, 1.3–1.4× as wide as clypeus, 1.8–2.1× as high as clypeus. Clypeus 2.8–3.0× as wide as high. Paraclypeal fovea minute, occupying 0.5× of the distance from lateral margin of clypeus to eye. Maxillary palp 0.3× as long as head; third segment 0.6.–0.8× as long as fourth. First flagellomere 3.3–3.8 as long as wide, 1.25× as long as second flagellomere. Second flagellomere 3.2–3.3× as long as wide. Third flagellomere 2.1–2.8× as long as wide. Tenth flagellomere 1.7–2.0× as long as wide. Antenna with 37 flagellomeres.

Mesosoma. 2.25× as long as high, 2.6× as long as wide, 1.8–2.0× as long as head (lateral view). Mesoscutum width 0.9× mesosoma height. Scutellar sulcus 2.7–2.8× as wide as long.

Legs. Hind femur 3.7–3.9× as long as wide. Hind tibia 9.65–10.1× as long as its maximum subapical width, 0.8× as long as hind tarsus. First segment of hind tarsus 1.8–2.2× as long as second segment.

Fore wing. 0.6× as long as body. Vein r length 0.4× of pterostigma width. Pterostigma 1.1–1.4× as long as vein 1- R 1. Vein 1-SR+M 1.0–1.15× as long as 2-SR; 2-SR+M 0.7–0.8× as long as 2-SR. First subdiscal cell open (CU1b absent); vein cu-a postfurcal, 0.4–0.6× as long as 1-CU1; 2-CU1 1.0× as long as m-cu.

Hind wing. With three hamuli, 5.3–6.25× as long as wide. Vein 1-M 1.1–1.2× as long as M+CU, 3.65–3.9× as long as 1r-m. Subbasal cell open (1-1A and cu-a present, but not tubular or pigmented in attachment); SR and 2-M spectral through.

Metasoma. 1.2–1.3× as long as head plus mesosoma length. First metasomal tergite 3.5–3.65× as long as apical width, apex 1.4–1.6× as wide as base; dorsope shallow.

Color. Pronotum and side of pronotum, lobo medium of mesoscutum, propodeum, and metapleuron brown yellowish.

Male. Similar to female. Body length 4.4 mm. Head in dorsal view 1.0× as wide as length in lateral view; shortest distance from occiput to stemmaticum 2.3× stemmaticum height; shortest distance between inner margins of lateral ocelli 1.4× maximum diameter of ocellus. Head in lateral view 1.4× as long as high; temple 1.8× as long as eye. Eye 0.85× as long as high. Mandible with apex 0.85× as wide as base. Face 2.25× as long as high, 1.7× as high as clypeus. Clypeus 2.65× as long as high. Paraclypeal fovea occupying 0.6× of the distance from lateral margin of clypeus to eye. Maxillary palp 0.4× as long as head. First flagellomere 1.2× as long as second flagellomere. Second flagellomere 2.95× as long as wide. Antenna 1.0× as long as body, with 41 flagellomeres. Mesosoma 2.2× as long as high, 2.7× as long as wide. Mesoscutum width 0.8× mesosoma height. Scutellar sulcus 2.5× as wide as long. Hind tibia 9.1× as long as its maximum subapical width. Fore wing with vein r length 0.5× of pterostigma width; vein 1-SR-M 1.2× as long as 2–SR; vein cu-a 0.8× as long as 1-CU1; 2-CU1 1.1× as long as m-cu. First metasomal tergite 3.8× as long as apical width.

Comments. Coelinius canastra was described from a single female specimen collected in 2009. Here we report the morphological variation from two additional specimens, one male and one female, both collected in 2019 from rupestrian grassland physiognomies, near to the area where it was collected the holotype (Chapadão da Canastra).
