Highfin Grunt or Panamic Grunt. To 39 cm (15.4 in) TL ( Jiménez Prado and Béarez 2004). Laguna San Ignacio, southern Baja California ( Barjau-González 2003) and Gulf of California (McKay and Schneider in Fischer et al. 1995) to Puerto Pizarro, Peru ( Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California ( Robertson and Allen 2015). Depth: 3–107 m (9–351 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Amezcua Linares 1996). We follow Tavera et al. (2018) in moving Pomadasys panamensis (Steindachner, 1876) to the genus Rhonciscus .
