Embiotoca caryi Agassiz, 1853 View in CoL .

Rainbow Seaperch or Rainbow Surfperch. To 30.5 cm (12 in) TL ( Miller and Lea 1972). Cape Mendocino, northern California ( Miller and Lea 1972) to Bahía San Carlos (29°36’N, 115°12’W), central Baja California (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Depth: intertidal to 50 m (165 ft) (min.: Hubbs 1921; max.: Love et al. 2005). Previously as Hypsurus caryi , we use Embiotoca based on the strong molecular and morphological evidence presented in Bernardi (2009) and Longo et al. (2018).
