Snake Mackerel. To 140.5 cm (55.3 in) TL ( Choy and Drazen 2013). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to southern Japan (Nakabo in Nakabo 2002); San Pedro, southern California to central Chile ( Fitch and Lavenberg 1968), including lowermost Gulf of California ( Robertson and Allen 2015), and Islas Galápagos ( Grove and Lavenberg 1997). Oceanic epipelagic and mesopelagic; depth: surface to 1,000 m (3,280 ft) ( Robertson and Allen 2008).
