Black Marlin. To 5 m (16.4 ft) TL ( Randall et al. 1990). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to southern Kuril Islands ( Savinykh 1998); southern California ( Miller and Lea 1972) to northern Chile ( Grove and Lavenberg 1997), including Gulf of California ( Robertson and Allen 2002), and Islas Galápagos ( Grove and Lavenberg 1997). Oceanic; depth: near surface to 258 m (846 ft) (min.: Eschmeyer and Herald 1983; max.: Chiang et al. 2015). Recently as Makaira indica (Cuvier, 1832) .
