Range: —Andes from Colombia to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC).
Ecology: —Fairly common in montane rainforests, emergent through the canopy; 1200–2700 m.
Notes: —A large tree fern, unmistakable by the thick inermous petioles and massive crosiers. The scales are mostly orange-red but can be paler when plants grow in the sun. Laminae are usually glaucous below.
