Range:— Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP).

Ecology: —Common in humid montane forest, flourishing only in the understory; 1200–2300 m.

Notes: —The most common pinnate-pinnatifid species with erect trunk, often abundant in the understory of closed forests from Bolivia to Ecuador, less common in the rest of its range. This species can respond quickly to increased sun exposure with reduced lamina size and denser hairs (pers. observation).
