Figs. 25 View FIGURES 19 – 27. 19 – 27 , 110–113 View FIGURES 105 – 113. 105 – 107 .

Type locality. Western India, Mahārāshtra state, 4 km south of Lonavala, Bhushi dam environment, 500 m a.s.l.

Type material. Holotype ( NMPC), male, “ INDIA W, Maharashtra st.[-ate], 4 km S of Lonavala, Bhushi dam env., 24.–28.ix.2005, J. Bezdĕk leg. [white label, printed]”. Paratypes ( NMPC), same label data as holotype, 1 male; “ INDIA, Maharashtra, Satara Distr., Mahalabeshwar, 30.IX.2005, at light. leg. J. Borowiec / INDIA Expedition 2005, Dept. of Biodiversity and Evol. Taxonomy, Wroclaw University [white labels, printed]”, 1 female.

Description. Coloration ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 19 – 27. 19 – 27 ). Head sepia, mouthparts and narrow mediolongitudinal stripe on vertex ferrugineous. Antennae sepia, annulated, joints and apex of terminal antennomere ferrugineous. Prothorax ferrugineous with three sepia spots before middle, central spot slightly smaller than lateral ones. Meso- and metasternum and scutellum ferrugineous, ventral portion of abdomen sepia, sternites bordered with honey yellow. Legs sepia, basal halves of femora and knees ferrugineous. Elytra chestnut brown, lateral margins narrowly bordered with honey yellow, sutural margin mostly with very narrow ferrugineous border.

Male. Eyes large and strongly protruding, head across eyes ca as wide as pronotum, lateral sides of head behind eyes straight, converging posteriorly. Antennae just extending beyond three quarters of elytral length, filiform, antennomeres without visible impressions. Surface of head imbricate-punctate, with long, yellow semierect pubescence, matt. Pronotum wider than long by almost one fifth, strongly cordiform, anterior margin, anterior corners and anterior two thirds of lateral margins together rounded, last thirds of lateral margins strongly concave, posterior corners sharp, strongly protruding laterad, posterior margin slightly convex. Surface of pronotum with very fine mediolongitudinal carina in posterior portion, sparsely and finely punctate, with long, fine, yellow recumbent pubescence, semilustrous to lustrous. Elytra rather dilated posteriorly, elytral venation very slightly indicated to absent, surface of elytra finely rugulose-lacunose, with fine, yellow semierect pubescence, matt to semilustrous. Aedeagus as in Figs.111–113 View FIGURES 105 – 113. 105 – 107 , parameres apically convex or concave, as is typical in related species.

Female. Eyes less protruding than in male, head across eyes slightly narrower than pronotum, antennae slightly shorter, not reaching two thirds of elytral length. Last abdominal sternite with shallow mediolongitudinal carina as in Fig. 110 View FIGURES 105 – 113. 105 – 107 .

Length (both sexes). 9.5–11.2 mm.

Differential diagnosis. Stenothemus honza sp. nov. is similar to Stenothemus favrei (Pic, 1907) (southern India) in its body form and shape of the aedeagus, but it differs in its apically thickened or dilated and concave parameres (almost not dilated in S. favrei ), the different shape of dorsal part of the aedeagus as in Figs. 111–113 View FIGURES 105 – 113. 105 – 107 and the simple last abdominal sternite in the female (cf. Švihla 2005).

Etymology. Patronymic, Honza is a diminutive of the name Jan, and the species is dedicated to one of its collectors, Jan Bezdĕk (Brno, Czech Republic). To be treated as a noun in apposition.

Distribution. India: Mahārāshtra state.
