Type series. Holotype male labelled: “ Cetinjska pećina, Cetinje, Montenegro, 23. IX. 2008, M. Perreau leg.” (white label, p)/“ HOLOTYPUS Adriaphaenops njegosiensis sp. nov. Lohaj, Lakota, Quéinnec, Pavićević & Čeplík des. 2014” (red label, p), (CEQ).

Diagnosis. A medium-sized trechine beetle with aphaenopsoid features: head and pronotum elongate; elytra ovoid, strongly narrowed at the base, obviously wider than head and pronotum, body depigmented, gently rounded ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 20 – 22 ). This new species is mainly characterized by a combination of following specific characters: two pairs of suprorbital setae missing or very reduced (as in staudacheri and perreaui ), anterior angles of pronotum protruding (as in antroherponomimus , albanicus sp. nov., jasminkoi sp. nov. and rumijaensis sp. nov.) and by the general shape of aedeagus.

Description. L: 4.9 mm, TL: 4.7 mm. Head relatively large, elongate, sides gently arcuate, with maximum width in middle, distinctly longer than wide, index HL/HW 1.52, almost as wide as pronotum, sparsely pubescent. Frontal furrows moderatly impressed, relatively short, not exceeding anterior third of head length. Anterior and posterior pairs of supraorbital setae absent or indistinguishable from head pubescence; neck constriction weakly marked; genae gently convex. Clypeus with three pairs of setae, labrum with three pairs of setae, outer pairs longer. Antennae length in HT 3.4 mm, scape as long as pedicel, shorter than terminal antennomere. Pronotum elongate, as long as the head, with maximum width in middle, basal part distinctly narrower than anterior (index PL/PW 1.54), sparsely pubescent, setae short, suberect; median furrow distinctly marked. Propleura not visible. Anterior angles of pronotum protruding, but rounded, posterior angles obtuse. Lateral furrows developed, deep, with one pair of anterolateral setae, situated in anterior fifth of pronotal length.

Elytra subovate, elongate, distinctly longer than wide (index EL/EW 1.62), with maximum width at middle; elytral surface covered with more or less dense, short and erect pubescence; striae absent. Site of stria 3 with three (two discal and one preapical) setae, humeral group of umbilicate pores not aggregated, first anterior pore of humeral group isolated and situated before the level of the first discal seta.

Legs long, slender, densely pubescent.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 23 – 30 ): aedeagus relatively short, moderately arcuate, apex elongate and slightly arcuate dorsally in lateral aspect, saggital aileron small. Endophallus armed with very slightly defined, large and spatulated copulatory piece, about fourth as long as aedeagus, parameres wide, with two short setae at apex.

Female unknown.

Etymology. Topotypic, refering to Njeguši, a small village near Cetinje, located on the slopes of Lovćen Mts, but also a center of a homonymous tribe. It is best known as a birthplace of Petrović-Njegoš dynasty, the ruling family of Montenegro.

Topographic location and ecology. Cetinjska pećina cave is located in the center of old town of Cetinje, near the Cetinje Monastery ( Fig. 45 View FIGURE 45 ). It belongs to the longest known caves (1680 m) in Montenegro and during the flood in 1986 was haevily damaged. The only known individual of the new species (the Holotype specimen) was found in the main corridor in the deepest part of the cave, walking freely on wet clay.

Distribution. so far known only from the type locality, Cetinjska pećina cave in Cetinje, Montenegro. From this cave were reported also other subterranean Coleoptera , namely Seracamaurops (Cordiamaurops) fritschi Besuchet, 1986 ( Staphylinidae , Pselaphinae ), Anthroherpon apfelbecki lahneri Maťcha, 1916 and Speonesiotes sp. ( Cholevidae, Leptodirini ) as well as Neotrechus suturalis suturalis (Schaufuss, 1864) and Neotrechus hilfi hilfi Reitter, 1903 ( Carabidae , Trechini ).
