Xyrosaris sp. 2 : Oku, 2003: 26; Komatsu, 2020: 64; Yagi, 2022: 47.

Xyrosaris insularis Ponomarenko & Beljaev, 2023: 137 View in CoL View Cited Treatment . TL: Russia (Primorskii Krai).

Diagnosis. This species is similar to X. triacantha Na & Bae sp. n. superficially. But it can be distinguished by the following genital characters: the valval harpe is dramatically curved near apex, with seven large thorns in the male genitalia; the ductus bursae is less than 2.5 times as long as corpus bursae in the female genitalia.

Distribution. Korea, Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu), Russia (Southern of the Far East).

Host plant. Celastraceae Euonymus alatus f. ciliatodentatus Hiyama (Present study); E. orbiculatus Thunb. ( Ponomarenko & Beljaev 2023).

Material examined. [ INUB] ♀, Gyeonggido Province , Yangpyeong-gun, Yangseo-myeon, 7. V. 1998 (Y.S. Bae), genitalia slide no. QNA-06 . ♂, 4♀, Gyeongsangsando Province , Changnyeong-gun , Hwawangsan Mountain , 29.VII.1998 (DS Gu) [in Korean], genitalia slide no. QNA-07, -08, -09 (2♀ abdomen lost). ♂, Gyeonggido Province , Inchon-shi, Jangsu-dong, 6.X.1999 (Lee & Lee), genitalia slide no. QNA-10 . 2♀, Gyeonggido Province , Ansan-si , Is. Daebu , Mt. Hwanggeum, 31.VIII.2004 (Oh, Kim, Song & Nha), genitalia slide no. INU-4736 , -4737 .

Remarks. Prior to Ponomarenko and Beljaev (2023), this species was reported as Xyrosaris sp. 2 by Oku (2003) from Japan. Subsequently some Japanese authors referred to it. In the present paper, this species is reported from Korea for the first time. However, the mtCOI information was already uploaded at the GenBank (KF523851.1) as X. lichneuta Meyrick. Ponomarenko and Beljaev (2023) predicted distribution in Korea by comparing their own mtCOI data with Genbank and BOLD. Therefore, this species is validated in the Korean fauna.
