Persistently greyish-tomentose biennial; stem 100-160 cm. Basal leaves 22-45 x 6-12 cm, oblongoblanceolate, entire, crenate or dentate, petiolate. Inflorescence freely branched. Bracts 5-7 mm, ovate to deflate, cuspidate; longer pedicels 3-5 mm. Calyx 4-6 mm; lobes ovate-lanceolate. Corolla 22-28 mm in diameter. Stamens 5; anthers all reniform; filament-hairs violet, at least in part. Capsule 5-6 mm, subglobose. S. Spain (Sierra Nevada and adjoining region). Hs. (N. W. Africa.)
