Range:— Florida; Antilles; Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CH, CO, PA, SC), northern Argentina and Paraguay; tropical and subtropical Africa and Asia.
Ecology:— Locally common; terrestrial and aquatic along streams, lake edges, marshes, and on floating vegetation; to 500 m.
